The goal of our employable and entrepreneurial skills projects is to develop and deliver education and training opportunities that build personal, professional and leadership competencies of young people to achieve future readiness. As a youth organisation, YHFG's vision is to inspire young people in northern Ghana to unparalleled levels of personal and professional achievement.

Our professional development focuses on skills and knowledge attained for both personal development and career advancement. Professional development refers to all kinds of facilitated learning opportunities, ranging from academic progressing, seminars and informal learning opportunities situated in practice. We use a variety of approaches to achieve professional development, including personal consultation, coaching, mentoring, reflective supervision and technical assistance.

About Ghana

Situated in Western Africa, Ghana is bordered by Ivory Coast, Burkina Faso and Togo. The country approximates the size of Great Britain with a population of 25 million inhabitants. The YHFG is located in northern Ghana, where 90 percent of the population are peasant farmers. The overall levels of educational attainment are much lower in the region, compared with the country as whole. Northern Ghana is a patriarchal society where women are traditionally excluded in decision making. Early marriages and early motherhood curtails girls and women educational and employment opportunities.
