Following two successive workshops involving staff and Board of Trustee (BOT) members of the YHFG, several policies and systems, including Annual leave tracker, Personal records form, Vehicle maintenance request form, Receiving goods records, Purchase requisition, Purchase order, Asset pool tracker, Supporting documents matrices, Segregation of duty, Internal control, Audit preparation checklist, Petty cash log, Petty cash voucher, Disbursement request form, Timesheet template, Code of conduct, including conflict of interest policy, Anti-fraud policy, Project closure procedures, Child Protection Policy and Gender policy have been discussed and adopted. Some of these policies and systems were already in use. The workshops provided the opportunity for their application to be considered further under the facilitation of an experienced project and financial management consultant. Also, the Governing Document of the YHFG was reviewed and suggestions made for its revision for the approval of Congress in 2018. Even more exciting is a draft ten-year strategic plan which was discussed thoroughly. Led by Ms Priscilla Nyaaba, a BOT member, the plan, which is titled “UNLEASHING YOUNG PEOPLE’S AGENCY AND THEIR POWER AGAINST POVERTY AND SOCIAL INJUSTICE” gives a clear direction to the future of the YHFG from 2018 – 2028. We have bought the future and paid in full! Our sincere gratitude goes to Dr Francis Ansah (BOT) chairman for your leadership, Mr Emmanuel Sorogo (consultant) for your support and great facilitation skills and to RFSU (http://www.rfsu.se/en/Engelska/) for your financial support that made the two workshops possible.
